3 months ago i got a bb curve 9320 and gave my previous bbcurve 8520 to my daughter. i used the same email addy when setting up the new device (for bbid) as i had on the old one and didnt make changes to the old. Yesterday i got a notification for bbm upgrade to 7.0.1.23 which i upgraded no problem. my daughter got the same and upgraded on her bb. When it had rebooted her profile had gone and was replaced with mine. i checked my phone and her profile was there. we deleted bbm off her phone and reinstalled it and now it wont open. the icon is there but just wont click. after an hour on the phone to virgin this morning they reset all the allowances and then reinstated them and said that bbm would be back to normal after 24 hrs. i couldnt make them understand about the bbid email address and how it was my old phone and feel that this may have something to do with the problem as it swapped the profiles on the phones. As yet bbm still isnt working (altho they did say give it 24 hrs) but does this sound right? im so confused i hope i have been able to explain properly

If you want to use the same email address on a new phone, you may need to go through to BlackBerry support(via Virgin) for them to remove the details from your old phone account. Then your daughter can re-register with her own details.0

One of the first things I would be doing at this point is downloading the Blackberry Desktop application from their web site.
Download, install it, then connect each Blackberry in turn and back it up using the software to s file on the PC/lap top- its really easy to do and very quick.
Then you now have the ability to restore each BB to exactly how it is right now.
You say this...When it had rebooted her profile had gone and was replaced with mine. i checked my phone and her profile was there.
Does that mean that your phones have 'swapped'?
If so then backup as above using desktop software - do both backups first before doing anything else.
Then, 'restore' the backup but restore it to the relevant phone - does that make sense?
Ive done this loads of times with the desktop software - backup from one model (say 8520) and restore to another (say a 9300) - sometimes it takes a while and requires a reboot to make the BBM contacts appear (I guess its the BBM contacts that your daughter really needs)
Hope this helps.0 -
problems all sorted now. Came across the blackberry support forums which were really good.0
