Ford Ka clutch problem?

Got a 2001 Ford KA. Recently had the engine replaced (used engine). Since I got the engine replaced I noticed that a clutch peddle on the gear box seemed to rattle. This seems to have stopped but now there appears to be a rattle from the passenger side. Since I got the engine replaced I also noticed that the clutch peddle sometimes squeaks. This usually happens when the car has done a long journey, i.e 20/30 miles.

Drove 35 miles today, came off the motorway, changed gears and pressed down on the clutch. There seemed to be a noticeable noise (not sure how to describe it).

The thing is i had my clutch replaced only this summer?

Any thoughts what it could be?

  • new engine came with that engines clutch, your was disposed of and now you could have a rusty old clutch thats faulty or worn.

always put a new clutch and hydraulic concentric slave cylinder (old school call them thrust bearing) when fitting a new engine aswell as new timing belt and water pump and tensioners and auxilliary belts.

you squeek coming from the pedals or passenger side was most likely some air going through the hydraulic system. if they removed the gearbox or disconnected the feed pipes for the CSC, or simply the pedal box needs a bit of grease.

wrattling could e many things, like they didnt regrease drive shafts, or not hooked up some retaining bracket.
  • Update: there is still a squeaking noise coming from the clutch pedal when I move my foot from the clutch pedal.

Also, when I travel at high speed the motorway the gear box rattles (i.e 70mph). The noise is from the gear box as when I grab the gear stick the noise stops. When I let go the stick rattles.

After coming off the motorway, reducing my speed and stopping to give way the clutch makes a horrible grinding noise. This is only on long journeys after coming off the motorway?
