We are renting at the moment, been there 3 years. The property was unfunished but they left a cooker for us. This cooker has now broken down. We told the estate agent and also told them we would buy our own and they said fine but we need to get it installed by there registered gas man, ...
Anyway, thininking about it now, is it not the lanlords responsibility to get a cooker as this is what came with the house when we took it on...?
Any thoughts on whos responsible?
Thanks?

Was it listed on your original inventory? If so you could argue there is an implied contractual term that a (working) cooker is included in the rent (not guaranteed argument though).
If you provide your own cooker, the LL cannot dictate whi installs it. However, if it is a gas cooker, you must use a GasSafe registered engineer.0 -
I've been led to believe that if it is a bayonet connector it's OK to DIY, anyone know for sure?
Possibly it is, but wouldn't interfering with or replacing a gas appliance without a GasSafe engineer testing it nullify the gas safety certificate that the landlord will (I hope) have had done within the last year?0 -
