If you want full-screen, just press "Print Scrn" button which copies an image to your clipboard.
Paste it into an image editor, or document and away you go.
If you just want the active window, hold down the "Alt" key and then press "Print Scrn".
If you want to get complicated, there are programs to do this for you, but simple works for me.

Hi,
you press the print screen key on top row, then open Paint, press ctrl + V, and edit.0 -
For something a bit more flexible have a look here http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/
Its small and straight forward, even I can get it to work!Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I'm an ICT Technician, and I still use the good old Print Screen > Paint > Paste method. It works on any PC running Windows without any extra software, and never fails to impress the user (especially if you do it very quickly)! The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

Small program with lots of options for what you want to capture - full screen, active window, rectangular selection, freehand section - then allows you to add captions, etc. And it's free!Charlie0 -

If you have Vista, the Snipping Tool is excellent - much easier than using Print Screen and 3rd party apps:
