PPI when a credit card passes to other bank.

Right erm this is a bit of a long one!
I opened a Marbles credit card with HFC in April 2001, this then passed over to HBOS in Febraury 2009. I had not used the card for a period with an outstanding balance so kept it during the latter period as repayment only.
In Novemebr 2011 I made a claim to HFC for miss-sold PPI, I won the first battle with templates gleamed from this site. I was contacted in July 2012 that HFC would settle for a six year period so in effect from 2003 until the card passed to HBOS in February 2009. In this letter it stated that the matter of transfer would suggest that HBOS would take up the issue and get back to me as soon as possible.
Some two months or so later a cheque arrived from HFC.
For a number of reasons this piece of information fell of my radar, until a routine sort of papers last weekend. Some eight monthst later after I could be epxetced to be contacted "AS SOON AS POSSIBLE" I made contact first with HFC..
HFC had the letter on file and agreed that it was odd that I had not had any further communication, and that they would pass on the detail so the HBOS people, it would seem in the same office based in Manilla.
Twenty minutes later I callled HBOS and spoke to a lady who agreed that the case had not been looked at and no letters had gone astray or any such confusion I have heard before. She agreed that if PPI was active then in around eight weeks I could look forward to hearing from them.
72 hours later I thought I would call them back to make a complaint over the matter and to see what if anything had happened. I was astounded to be speak to the person I spoke to on Monday, she also outlined that a letter had gone out to me, which she later said would be going out.
So depiste no changes having been made with the account HFC agree to pay and paid PPI, the same PPI being present HBOS are now saying they dont owe me anything, how can that be the case?
Ideas help anyone

When the card was passed over to HBOS, did you pay PPI on the card, what reasons did HBOS give you for not giving any PPI back from 09 to date?.0

It depends whether HFC sold the account 'as is' or retained some obligations.
With my marbles card from the late 90's they paid up themselves because HBOS did not take that obligation.0 -
Thats just it!
It was miss sold and added in with a call hbos two days stated ppi was still on the account.
Hbos just have said in last two days they investigsted it and I can go to FOB.
Two days ago and for the last nine months I have been waiting to here favourably.
I am at a loss how hfc can say yes and settle for hbos to just say no.

My first letter came from HFC with offer clearly outlining the period they were repaying and as the account was still active hbos would look to settle post 2009.
Today verbally they say a letter was is being sent that is a flat reject! It depends whether HFC sold the account 'as is' or retained some obligations.

Tifo, could you expand on your claim please?
Had your card gone to hbos too?
When did you make your claim?
ThanksIt depends whether HFC sold the account 'as is' or retained some obligations.

It's not my logic.
HFC sold the PPI to you, it was a missale. HBOS took over the card but they didn't sell you the PPI. You can ask for the payments back because they were originally missold as shown by your upheld complaint with HFC.
Your complaint was upheld and it wasn't just a goodwill gesture I assume?
Anyway, as tifo says, they may not have taken responsibility for the PPI and as they didn#t sell it to you, that's why they rejected it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
The complaint was that, there was no mention of it being a goodwill gesture.
I think im going to call them back and ask for further clarificationIt's not my logic.
