Scottish Widows..help!!!

Hi,
This is my first post on here and am hoping for a bit of advice.
My fiances mum died suddenly at the end of January aged 57. While sorting out her paperwork, the family came across a life insurance policy with Scottish Widows which she had been paying £70 a month for.
Upon ringing them, my other half was told to take death certificates and forms into Lloyds TSB and wait. Scottish Widows then requested doctors notes and beneficiaries bank details.
Today, a letter arrived stating that the claim was rejected due to non disclosure of medical problems. She was in poor health for her age suffering from angina, emphysema, diabetes amongst other things and was often in and out of hospital. The bizarre thing is that on the application form it is stating that she has no heart complaints and the signature declaring this isn't hers. We have several copies of her signature to prove this!
Scottish Widows have offered to give us four months premiums back! No sure why.
I'm questioning whether she was missold this in the bank and, if this is the case, what do we do next?
It's not for a massive sum of money but would cover funeral costs etc for the family who are devastated by her sudden death?
Any experience of this or help would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

It would be the premiums for the full months from the point of death.

It is one we cannot call as we have no benefit of seeing the paperwork. Insurers do suffer with certain age groups in particular where they dont like disclosing information. Equally, if the information is disclosed and not recorded then that would be a mis-sale. We cant say which happened.

All you can do is make a complaint to Scot Wid and see what happens.
