Phone paypal, tell them what tracking number shows and ask them to decide the case now based on the fact that seller has provided false tracking.

I have just phoned Both UPS and Paypal.
UPS told me the number isn't one of theirs. (on the universal tracker it comes up as USPS anyway)

I called paypal, and spoke to a very helpful and pleasant gentleman, who said he could see exactly what the seller was trying to do, and that they also would check out the tracking number for themselves.

He said it is their policy to give the seller 10 days to prove they have shipped the item..just in case they have accidently entered the wrong tracking number.

This is very unlikely as not only is the no. a chinese one..the carrier is incorrect as well!

I just dont know what the seller is playing at...ignoring me, ignoring and giving out false tracking info.

Paypal have reassured me that I will definitely get a refund, that its just a matter of waiting.

Think I will stick to Ebay buying in future!

UPS = United Parcel Service - essentially a courier a la DHL. USPS = United States Postal Service = US version of Royal Mail.

Well, here's an update!
Was very surprised to receive a paypal automated email, to say seller had added tracking details...this despite him having not replied to all my mails.
I was very pleased...till I saw the number. It claimed be USP...and ended in CN...which indicates it was shipped from china ( seller is in England!)
Put number into a universal tracker...and it is a USPS parcel....posted in china, delivered to USA....a year ago!
Phoned USP who confirmed it wasn't one of theirs.
Phoned paypal to explain...they were very helpful, and said it was obvious he was a scammer, but that I would still have to wait the 10 days for him to respond before I get refunded.
I emailed the seller to tell him that the tracking number was an old one, and obviously fake.
This morning I get a one word reply "PArdon"
That was it..exactly like that!
I am beginning to think my scammer is a young teenager. His user name is j**h060401. If that is his birthday he is 12/13!
This is the weirdest purchase I have ever made in 10 years of Internet buying!
