Dubai in April

I'm really struggling in getting the price down of a holiday. I have followed all the tips on the MSE guide and its not coming down (teletext etc, tour operators, purchasing elements seperately etc). Maybe there is no margin for it to come down, as its easter holidays, but maybe someone could help with an idea?

I would love Palm treet court, dubai, 10 days all inclusive. Flying from Manchester or birmingham on 11th April.

Currently the cheapest seems to be £5800

Its a special holiday for a special birthday so fingers crossed!

It's a popular time in Dubai as it's not too hot, on top of it being easter, it's going to be expensive.

Are you sure you want to go AI at the Palm Tree Court, while it's a lovely hotel, (I've stayed there myself and would definitley go again) it's a long way away from anything else, so once you're back at the hotel for your evening meal that's it, there's nothing else to do around there other than wander to the golf club or the Jebel Ali hotel next door. Also, if you go out for the day it's really too far to go back for lunch, I really can't see, unless you intend spending the majority of the whole 10 days on site, that you would get the benefit for AI.

Perhaps try pricing it at half board or B&B? The breakfast is collosal, there's a huge choice, it kept us going until dinner with just a snack in the afternoon.

Considering you can stay either the sheraton or hilton on Jumeira Beach for just over 2K (+ flights) I reckon that is well overpriced for ahotel that, lovely as it may be, is in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for your replies. I was taken by that hotel as I have two small children so we're looking for somewhere appropriate for them and probably won't venture out of resort too often. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Hmmm, I think so yes, it is very lovely, but it's a minimum 30 min upto 1hr taxi ride to everything else in Dubai, so the souks, water parks, indoor ski slope, malls, restaurants, everything really that you go to Dubai to experience are a major expedition. We only stayed there because we hired a car, otherwise we would have chosen somewhere closer.

I don't know how you feel about an apartment, but the same company who own the hotel also own Oasis Beach Towers at Dubai Marina, they are out of this world, super luxurious and they have a shuttle going to the Palm Tree Court so you can use all the facilities there, but they are close to the rest of Dubai and the metro, have their own pool and are over the road from the beach. They do B&B and have a shopping service so will go get your groceries for you.

Or perhaps you could do a two centre, spend 5 days at PTC and 5 days in a hotel in Dubai.

Obviously it depends on what you are looking for in a holiday, but it seems a shame to go all the way to Dubai and miss everything else it has to offer because you're stuck in the middle of nowhere.

If you're not going to go out of the hotel then why pay £6k for a holiday?

Agree with others, its a nice hotel but out of the way.

Agree with others. It is a fantastic hotel but it's right on the edge of the city. You could surely find somewhere just as good in the Jumeirah Beach area closer to the malls, restaurants, entertainment etc for a couple of grand less.
