Buying Suitcases Online - anyone experienced goplaces.co.uk?

Hi All

Looking to buy some sort of hard-sided suitcase, currently looking at Carlton Airtec Trolley 81cm model http://www.goplaces.co.uk/acatalog/Airtec_large_trolley.html

has anyone used the company before? or the suitcase itself for that matter? Looking to spend approx. £50 on a decent hard-sided case and that airtec seems to be a good value for money.

cheers

Hi, I can well recomend Carlton suitcases. Mine have just come out of the loft for next weeks holiday... They are like the ones in the picture, but a bit older, so do not have the long handle.
I have a set of 2 in the red and red vanety case, also a large black with blue details. My cases have been through Gatwick many times and are still in good condition. Each case has 2 side pockets and 2 travel coathangers.

    Happy Holidays...

Yeah... im replacing my current hard-sided suitcase that was given to me from an airline after they (well, baggage handlers at LHR or NRT) managed to damage my Samsonite!! there was a good 10cm crack down the side of the case, as well as 2 heavily dented corners :S

and well, the replacement lasted well for 4 years or so but the wheels are now damaged badly and wont move now, hence the need for a new one. hopefully this ones gonna last me longer!! just need to know whether the company goplaces.co.uk is any good or not before i spend any more money on suitcases lol

What a coincidence, I have spent ages looking on the net for a new case and this was the one that I had picked out too! Seemed to be the best price I could find online for that case, unless anyone knows any different?

haha great minds think alike eh? it does seem like a best value hard-sided suitcase with good capacity (104litres) without weighing tooo much (6kg), though if poss i wouldnt mind it being a tad bit lighter.

anyway i emailed goplaces.co.uk to see what colour they've got in stock so when they reply i'll let you know what they say if you're interested :) many of the other places only has it in colour i really dont want!

Good morning all, just adding to my earlier post.
As I said -my Carlton suitcases are great, but they do weigh 6kg each -empty!When you are only allowed 20kg when full(for MYTRAVEL airline), this is 1/4 of your allowance.

On my holiday though - we are taking 3 cases for 4 people (to do with car space-we have booked park and ride - Gatwick)
So are allowed (phoned to ask) 80kg for the whole party of combined cases.

This would be a consideration more if only one or 2 people were traveling, I would possibly cut the weight by not packing liquids (the chemist shop) as they are heavy and buying on arival... I mean the bottles of sun tan lotion, shower wash. shampoo and other large bottles.

    Best Wishes

p.s soft cases would be lighter but not as tough as Carlton!
