Thanks for all of your replies.

We have 2 CO alarms, one is electric and fitted on the ceiling, and we bought a battery one.

We live in an HA house and the boiler is serviced every 11 months, the last one being last month.

    We have an outside vent.

We can't fit a thermostat ourselves as the system belongs to them, and they won't update anything or upgrade the heating.

Well, at least I've had my question answered. It is so annoying when you have to live with one of these archaic heating systems when everyone is telling you to be energy efficient, and these stop you being.

    Anyway, thanks everyone,
    Candy.

Edit: No, the symptoms I got were from the heat. I was fine when I cooled down. I get like that in the car if DH has the heating too high.

Are you sure its a CO detector, they are different to smoke detectors, sorry if I'm teaching grandmother to suck eggs.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • we replaced our 26 year old back boiler 3 years ago for a new energy efficient condenser boiler. for all of 26 years our backboiler never failed ran perfectly all year round with just a yearly service, we decided it was time we updated our boiler with a new valliant eco bolier from british gas.since then we have had problem after problem water pressure drops. or goes to high and boiler cuts out intermittinly because we discovered the outside condenser pipe was freezing in cold weather, I would love to have my old 70s back boiler back

Yes it is. The electric smoke alarm is right next to it. :)
