Alternatively, do nothing and switch to a supplier that will add the day and night rates together next time.
Every ten years or so, they have to replace your meter.
Try insisting on a single rate meter when they ring up to make an appointment.
I am with Scottish Power, Fixed Online to Jan 2014 (31 Dec 2013, really), single rate.
Electricity
Primary 18.249p + VAT = 19.16145p
Tier 2 9.226p + VAT = 9.6873p
Gas
Primary 7.099 + VAT = 7.45395p
Tier 2 3.156 + VAT = 3.3138p
So if you paid the £60, this is probably what you could be on.
Thanks, I'll consider this when the term expires0 -

Scottish Power won't add the registries together.
Meters tend to last about 20 years. When they are replaced, they are done so on a like for like basis, unless you order something different for which a charge may apply. Scottish Power would charge!0 -

Or switch to one that will change the meter for free. I did this last year by switching to EDF - they changed the meter as soon as I had been with them for 28 days.
If you ring SP they will tell you what percentage you need to use at night to either make E7 worthwhile or break even, you can then work out and see if its worth staying on E7.0 -
We do not have any form of electric heating or an immersion heater. If it's of any interest, from the calculations I've done for the total amount amount of electricity we use (about 4,000 kWh pa) the break even point for Economy 7 would seem to be around 23% night usage.
We achieve about 35% simply by using the washing machine and dishwasher (both have delayed start settings) at night, together with the minimal amount of tumble drying we do. This shows a saving of around £43 pa over 'normal' on our Scottish Power tariff.0
