After waiting 3 weeks, I'd cancel your cover and get in an independent local RGI who will probably have you up and running within a day or two.

Thank you, but as SP has messed about with the boiler so much I think it will be an expensive job and I do not see why I should pay when I have paid SP for cover for the last 3 years.

But you are clearly getting no service for the present year. Cut your losses and get someone in who knows what they are doing in, unless you want to remain without heating.
Unless you know what is wrong you have no idea what it would cost. It could be something extremely trivial.

Thank you for your comments and I wish I had done that in the first place, however what started as probably a trivial repair has now escalated into a very expensive job. Still waiting for SP to call me back, glad they are treating it as "urgent" !

several times and have not even had an acknowledgement from any of them.

Scottish Power have now said that the situation is out of their hands as the part that they broke is now obsolete and it is up to us to get a replacement boiler. How I wish I had gone with BG. definitely false economy.

If you contact an independent local GSR RGI, as I suggested a week ago, then you will probably find that the part is easily obtainable.
Make and model of your boiler and the part required?

Thank you, I did do as you suggested and the engineer confirmed that the part was obsolete (I also checked this with the manufacturers) he also confirmed that the part could not have been broken initially as the heating would not have been working. I have now had the boiler replaced at considerable expense. I have still not heard a peep from anyone at SP.
  • I have had the most appalling treatment from Scottish Power Homecomforts . I have had no heating or hot water for almost a month. They made 3 visits to my property and each time diagnosed a different fault then on the third visit told me the system required a power flush( which of course isn't part of their cover). I asked for a second opinion after speaking to the manufacturers of the boiler who disputed that a five year old system would need this.
Scottish power refused and made it very clear that they would not return to the propert until it was done.
I paid an engineer to look at the problem and he tod me that the system DID NOT need a power flush it required a new PCB. However, he competed the power flush at a cost of £330 and the system still didnt work.
I called Scottish power again and they sent another engineer ,this time with a manager ( following my complaint) and diagnosed a faulty PCB. They replaced it two days later and after almost a month I have hot water and heating.
I am seriously out of pocket and Scottish
power have never offered any compensation or even apologised for their incompetence. They took great pleasure in informing me that the are not regulated by the ombudsman but I am not prepared simply to accept that there is no one responsible for this company.
