Few months ago I had a call from a person claiming to be working in cooperation with West Yorkshire Police on preparing information booklet about safeguarding children and young people. He was looking for companies to support this project financially. Although we used to support local charities from time to time I thought I would double check it with the police. It turned out police knew nothing about it and it was a scam.
This morning I had almost identical call. This time no mention about West Yorkshire Police but the story was the same. I politely explained the guy I suspected it was a scam and asked to write to us instead. I was about to ask him for the charity details and number but then disconnected without asking for our address. Another thing is that the call came from Skype number which is registered in our name!
