Financial difficulties, student finance wrong?

Hi I've just moved into a HA flat with my toddler, its just us, I pay rent out of my student finance and commute over to Northampton to study. I've budgeted fairly well and got all the main things second hand but I was hoping the Access to Learning Fund would help me as I've not got proper appliances or anything. The uni's hardship fund said I wouldn't get anything after I applied, maybe as the funds are limited?

Anyway the AtLF replied saying I'm on the living at home maintanence loan and should contact student finance, plus provide other info. Will I get more money then?

Student finance have put an overpayment on my letters saying its 1,293 but I called last year to rectify this, they said it was the nursery fees, they hadn't had confirmations of it being paid etc? I have always sent the letters back and I've done it twice now but its still there. I calculated that they've actually taken this amount OFF this year's amount I recieve- if this is sorted, can I get it back??

They've also not paid enough for their half of childcare which is 85% of the costs. It all comes in a lump sum so I just take out what is due to the nursery, meaning I've actually footed more than my 15%.

I really need money atm as the next installment will not cover very much and anything I get back would be a blessing. Will they fund it back to me? I'm in my last year so its now or never.
Up and onwards to the future!

Why would an Access to Learning fund pay for household appliances? Does your local council have any grants or services for tenants on a low income? Are there any British Heart Foundation shops near you, or similar charities that have cheap second hand white goods (tested and warrantied) and furniture for those new to social housing or ex homeless? You might have to make quite a few calls to find out about these.

Nobody can tell you what SFE will do so try writing again, perhaps invoking their formal complaints procedure. Are you getting all the maintenance you are entitled to for your toddler?
