Claiming bank charges through hardship

Hi there,
I am trying to find out if I can claim my bank charges back, as at the time I was in very dire circumstances and lost everything, couldn't make payments on anything and was continually getting charged, especially by Halifax.
My question is wether I can claim these charges because of hardship at the time, even though I am now able to make/ meet all my financial obligations, although it took 3 years to get back on my feet.
I have tried to find this info on the site, but there is so much here.
Any help is appreciatted
