I had an invitation to one of these a few weeks ago....complete with baby present list inside. Top of the list (they thoughtfully suggested that people might want to club together to buy these) was a washing machine and tumble dryer. Cheeky cow!

    Wow!! What a blimming cheek!!!

I have just had a thought, a good present, if you really want to get one, might be a Boots gift card (or one for local chemist). We were given one from a local chemist and it was useful to get bits as we needed them.

"Baby showers" are an unwanted foreign import. Don't take part in them, I say. They're only a tiny step away from begging letters.

I agree. I would buy a present and card when the child has arrived.

I was thinking maybe some kind of medical hamper for her - so products she will use as she probably already has most things kept from her first baby. Calpol, teething gel, infacol etc. or is this a carp gift?

That's a great gift! One of my friends (who has 4 kids herself) does this for all her friends when they have a baby.
