My dad died yesterday & i'm worried for my mum about what is going to happen to her benefits.
Dad was 61 mum is 52, my 11 yo brother is still at home. My dad got pension credit & my brother gets DLA as he is autistic. Mum doesnt work. Anyone know what she would be entitled to now & who she should be contacting & can she get any help with funeral costs?
Thanks

I don't know anything about benefits but just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss.

Does your brother get middle rate care? If he does she should be claiming carers allowance. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Your mum can claim:
1. Income Support as a lone parent
2. Child tax Credit (might be getting this already?)
3. Carers Allowance - gives extra amounts on Income Support
She might get? Bereavement Benefits? Funeral Payment?
Contact your local Jobcentre and ask for the Bereavement Officer as they have been trained to help. They should be able to give an appointment so your mum doesn't have to wait.0 -
I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad. Your Mum needs toi contact the Jobcentre immediately to get some help, or you could do it for her initially if she's too distressed.:hello:0
