NAS enclosure for less than £20!

Found this NAS enclosure during my lunchtime while surfing in the net.

http://www.saverstore.com/productinfo/Product.aspx?catalog_name=Savastore&product_id=20008725&rstrat=12708

I thought the Maplins deal awhile ago for a NAS enclosure at £25 was cheap, but this has got to be the cheapest I've ever seen.

Visually looking at the picture, I *think* it might be similar to the ones Maplin are selling.:D

AND if you buy more than £30, you could save £10 using Google checkout and will make this NAS less than a tenner!!

yeap. just a 3.5" hard disk. I *think* the largest this could take is 400gb IDE hdd.

Think I will pass on this one, bet it only does FAT32 and not NTSF.

It is certainly cheap. If the old adage of "you get what you pay for" applies here, it's probably not up to a lot - but that's pure speculation.

The issue with NAS enclosures is how easy they are to manage in terms of user permissions etc. Given that there's no information regarding the management of this item, I'll pass.

My preference for such kit is the Linksys NSLU2 - it a wonderful bit of kit. A lot more money than this plus you'd need to hook up USB drives to it, but you do get what you pay for.

Argh, I paid £30 or whatever for the Maplin one :D

If it's the same kit, it's very fiddly to set up but is good enough for the price.

It's attached to your network, what does it matter?

NTFS has a better method of allocating data.

FAT32 only supports files of up to 4gb; NTFS supports larger. Probably not too much of a problem for most people unless you have large video files to edit or large ISO's.

So could I have 2 or 3 of these plugged into a hub/switch together with a pc and pc would see all of them?
