When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. :D

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning Folks

Another lovely day is on the horizon, I plan on making today a good day whether the world wants to agree with me or not :rotfl:

Hi to any newbies, hugs to those that need them and wrap up to anyone who is snow bound

Today I have/will
  • Meals from stores
  • Checked banking
  • Read freebie paper on the train and others online
  • Use rail pass to get to work (split ticket to save about £10 per week)
  • Will take a coffee from home for the journey
  • Will apply for a job I like the look of which is a bit closer to home
  • Need to work out my budget for the next year or so
  • College after work, so may treat myself to a coffee in the break - depending if I need one
  • Hope that I have some feedback from the role I interviewed for on Friday evening
  • I need to eat sensibly to n prove my mood
  • Need to have another early night as I am so tired

Think that's my lot today

Take care all,
Candy xxx
Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,000

    Morning!

    Thanks for starting candy :)

I don't think work will be too pleased with me today, didn't get much working from home done!! And I'm going to be late today! I'm happy to take yesterday as holiday though so hopefully should be ok. I just think they are going to question me about not being able to get in..

He a productive day tho, I cleared out my wardrobe and got SEVEN sacks full of old clothes/shoes/bags that I no longer use. It's only about 30kg but at least ill get something for them (I would of just thrown them away!)

I also have college tonight 6-9.. Still got a bit of reading to do on my lunch break..

    List for today:
    • Check bank - a few payments from the weekend have cleared
    • Updated budget app
    • Lunch from home
    • Do college reading at lunch
    • Buy a drink for college
    • Go college, try to stay awake and pay attention!
    • Check onepoll
    • Stay positive!! :j

Morning everyone. Thanks Candy for starting the thread.

Will be glad to have one of my colleagues back at work today. There are normally three of us in the office but one has been on leave for 2½ weeks, and the other is away on a course all this week - so for the past 2 days there has only been me.

Was up early this morning so the dog has had a much longer walk than normal. She thinks getting up early is a great idea! :D Beautiful (if a bit chilly) morning out there today.

Checked online banking, no nasty surprises. Only £3 left in there now, but I get paid on Friday so that's fine.

Scrambled egg on toast for breakfast this morning as I had some egg yolks left over from making meringues, that I wanted to use up. Nipped to Mr Ts when it opened at 7 and bought the cheapest bread I could find - so a 50p spend today.

Made salad to take to work for today's lunch along with fruit and yogurt. I haven't been doing very well with the weight loss these past couple of weeks so I need to sort that out quickly before I put all the weight back on again. Dinner will be leftovers that I've got in the fridge - some chicken curry and potato wedges.

    Have a great day everyone
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

  • Hi everyone I am a newbie on a mission! My life completely turned one a couple of weeks ago when DH found out about the £17000 debt on credit cards! Even though it was horrible at the time it was the best thing ever as we are now working as a team. So thought its time to get on here as I have been a lurker for some time trying to find ways of sorting the mess out. Anyway lots more debt too, I am on a DMP and we have a loan so now its time to debt bust!

So my things for today is:

    - Wait patiently for a response from paypal as I am keeping their end of the bargain of positive feedback and adding tracking numbers yet for the second time they are holding my funds - not impressed - sucks being a new ebayer!

    - write down our new household budget to save where we can: its all been over the place so need to write it fresh in my new 'house notebook' and look at where we can reduce.

    - need to work out what needs to be paid this week before starting fresh next week.

    - Make some extra money a day!

    - Pay virgin  such a ripoff, one bill which needs to be reduced, we are about to get cut off so need to pay it!

    - meals from stores

    - Do some baking with DD

Onwards and Upwards - have a lovely day everyone! :)

Morning Candy, thanks for starting us off! Well done on being 2 months closer to being DF without doing anything else!!

Hope everyone is well today, thanks for your support yesterday, I thought I was being a touch over-sensitive :o

DNMS I hope your back is better today, chin up with the job hunting.

    This is me today:
    - Checked banking
    - Given £100 of maintenence from ex, should be :D but
    - 1 purge opportunity today
    - B/D from stores, a bit annoyed with myself - brought toast toppings but forgot the bread for toast!!!
    - Netball tonight, lift share but it's my turn to drive. Will take own water.
    - Recheck budget for March, should have done this yesterday
    - Get the most out of a quiet diary today

That's all I can think of right now!
    Catch up later

    Jx

    Hey everyone

    Hope we are all a-ok.

I’m working from home today. Yay! All part of my master plan to get a regular work-from-home slot. It would be great if I could work from home permanently 2 days a week. We’ll see. I figure they’re not going to give me the payrise I want so I will ask for all my other ‘requirements’ instead ;)

OH got accepted for a 0% card so we can transfer his O/D and some of the 19.9% card onto that :T

    Other news:
Packed lunch for hubby; food from stores for me
Claimed expenses for dental treatment for me and OH - £35
    Paid extra £50 off cc#1 :T
Bit of mystery shopping if I have time – 2 phonecalls to customer service
Seek compensation for cancelled train – easy to fill out a delay repay form for trains 30+ mins late.
Will use travel vouchers for that for trip away at Easter :)

    Catch up soon xx

On a conference call now - wish me luck the dog doesn't bark the whole way through! Have a mute button but that'll only work when I don't need to talk too...

    Goooooood morning everyone!!

Hugs to all that need it, even if you think you are too manly for a virtual hug :rotfl:

timetorebuild - Welcome!! I love this daily thread, getting a chance to write a list and update throughout the day, makes me feel very productive :T

bt1 - Are you taking them to a cash for clothes place? You can get up to £1 per kilo, depending on where you take them :T

dnms - Hope you are feeling better today sweetie :)

Well, today I don't have much planned. I'm at work, so will get all my Swagbucks, onepoll etc checked and earned.
Need to check the bank, see where we are at. One DD left to come out.
LSD, need to buy some lunch as I've been very lazy and not made anything for today :o

Need to look on amazon to see if I can get a harness for my older dog. She attacked a staffy yesterday while out on a walk, can't believe it :( She is going on the break, she doesn't generally like other dogs when she is on heat, but she literally lunged at this other dog while it was just walking past her :( Need to do something to get more control of her, hopefully using my swagbucks/amazon vouchers so I don't need to spend real money.

And I've still not heard back about this other job. Ach :(

    Anyway, have a good day y'all! x
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

    morning all
a sunny morning here too! Lovely blue skies but did have to scrape ice off windscreen this morning to get to work!
    So for me today :

    - breakfast at home
    - brought in leftovers from home for lunch today (paella) plus some fruit, cake and yoghurt
    - drink free tea/coffee/hot choc and water at work today
    - charge phones at work
    - checked banks/spreadsheets and all on track
    - going to look again at budget for March and April to see if I can juggle some spends/allocations down as will be away first week of April (staying with family) so although will spend on petrol, and will buy some food/drink whilst there, we will not be spending all our grocery money for the week
    - going to book restaurant for DH and I for later this month. We eat out once a week using a deal (either voucher or groupon/livingsocial) and I have a groupon that I bought last year that I need to use - looking forward to that!!
    - veggie dinner from mealplan tonight
    - another alcohol free day for me today - this is making a HUGE difference to my budget (and waistline)
    - tonight I will make my lunch to take to work tomorrow and will prep part of tomorrow's dinner so that I am all organised and not rushed in the morning (and run the risk of having to spend any money as a consequence!)
    - a NSD for me today....
    - will read Martin's email when it comes through later today..

Have a good MSE day today everyone!
