couriers vs Royal Mail FC/SD

Can someone explain the pros of going for couriers? I've bought bottles costing £20ish and it was couriered. When I looked at couriers like DHL UPS they were very pricey.

I have always used Royal Mail FIRST CLASS or bigger SD and never had problems.

How much does a courier cost you? RMSD starts at £5.90 and I've never lost one parcel

It's all down to volume. We pay about 6.00 for 20kgs via a Courier. On smaller items you'll struggle to beat RM

don't forget royal mail parcel prices are going up on april 1st. something that normally costs me £2,7o to post will now cot me £5.30.

We are now going to open a RM business account, which you must sent at least 1000 parcels/packets a year.

There is a big discusion about this on the ebay board

If you could also use parcel monkey ( or companies like that)

    http://www.parcelmonkey.co.uk/

which uses all the big well known couriers, but the prices are far better than booking direct. parcel monkey gets huge discounted prices for ordering sooo parcel pick ups etc)
