Unpaid Training Prior to Starting Job

Hi all
Quick question. Had an interview today (won't say the organisation on here) for a minimum wage job - one I'm willing to consider as it's in the industry I want to move into, but right at the bottom.
The interviewer mentioned that if successful, there'll be 2 days training prior to starting. I didn't ask the question in the i/v (I will do if they ask me to go) but I strongly suspect they're both unpaid.
What's your opinions? My initial feelings are that if it's unpaid, it's taking the p!ss, especially for an low paid job, and that it doesn't bode well for how they treat their staff.
What's others thoughts??

My opinion is to get confirmation that they will be paid before proceeding if it means something to you.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

There is a simple answer to your question.
Ask them.
And another opinion for anyone who cares to listen...

That isn't my question! I can obviously find that out by asking when I hear back off them.
My question was more whether being made to do 2 days unpaid training was a sign that they muck their employees about etc. But yeah as someone else said, it does partly depend how motivated I am to work in that industry.0 -
I would also say it depends on how reputable the company are.
What industry is it in and did they tell you what the training will involve?0 -
Bookies. Won't say which one, don't think it's right to be naming companies on here. And nope, not said what training will involve.0

And depends if you pass the training or not and then what? No job and no pay for itWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Don't worry about naming the company. I had a hunch about what the industry and training would be, but it is not the case (I was expecting it to be marketing and the training to be door to door or street sign-ups).0 -
Does the training lead to any certification which would be of use in another company? In my opinion something like first aid training I would not grump too much at doing in my own time as I see it as useful. Less transferable training such as 'how we do things in our company' I would strongly resent doing in my own time. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
