Don't even think about Co op Legal Services. My wife has been lied to by them, and she now thinks that they are being deliberately obstructive.

All the help that they promised at the begining disapeared as soon as her brother signed the handling of the estate over to them.

I shall post the full saga when (if) they eventually finish it.

    In the meanwhile STEER CLEAR!

I am using CLS at the moment to deal with an estate on behalf of my son who is under 18. Our case is a right old saga too - misleading, lies, obstruction etc. CLS are terrible. Even the way they are dealing with my complaint is an appaling cover up! I'd change to another solicitor but am concerned it could hold up the sale of the property. I'm sorry for your family's experience but glad I'm not on my own - it's so stressful when there's enough going on as it is. They are meant to be reducing the stress, not adding to it!!

You have my sympathy as well.

My wife and her sister are going to give it a week, then take the matter to a proper solicitor. The Probate Office have already advised her to do this.

We even copied the Email that showed the lies to their Executive Matt Howells - matt.howells@co-operative.coop,but it still had no effect. He didn't even acknowledge it!

THE WHOLE OUTFIT MUST BE TARRED WITH THE SAME BRUSH.

Once it is over, I think we will try to get the media involved - it seems morally wrong that by using their undertaking services, you can get sucked into this whole nightmare situation! Rip Off Britain will be our first port of call.

I called coop bank when my father died to ask that they release sufficient cash from his account to pay funeral expenses. They put me through to their "legal department who deal with these matters" and I then was given half an hour of hard sell. It was not what I needed at the time.
