Returned item not credited to account

I bought a laptop from Next as a Christmas gift for my son. It was faulty and I contacted them and they arranged a replacement and then the return of the faulty laptop, this was returned on the 30th December 2012. When I received my statement at the beginning of February I realised it had not been credited to my account. I contacted them again and they said they had no record of it being returned. They sent me a letter to sign to confirm I had returned it and I also sent them a copy of the FedEX returns note. I have now got my March statement and the laptop has still not been credited, again I have contacted them and they say they are looking into it. In the meantime I am paying interest and payments on a computer that was returned nearly three months ago as they say I have to pay or I will be in arrears. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do next? Will I be entitled to get the interest charges removed from my account? Would it be unreasonable to ask for some sort of compensation?

Have they sent you a replacement?
Or do you now have 2 laptops on your statement? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Your post is unclear so please clarify.
You received a laptop from Next which you returned as faulty?
Next sent out a new laptop?
Have they now charged TWO laptops to your account?
You have proof that they have received the faulty laptop you returned?

If you've had a replacement OP, why would Next also give a refund? Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Sometimes they cancel and effectively create a new order when ordering a replacement. If they have done this, the OP will likely have been billed twice.
Usually they remove the 2nd charge when they receive the faulty goods back but unfortunately usually is not alwaysYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
