    Thanks chaps. Yes I was wrong, but it's not the first time - and in my defence they do try to hide the details in the small print.

    The circular bit may not be necessary at the FD end, but I need it at the Santander end to avoid their minimum funding fees, which they don't (in my personal experience) waive unless you moan at them when they charge it even though you've met the minimum!

    So looks like time to get a FD current, savings and ISA, pass Go and collect £100...
