A quickie regarding P&P

Short version:
I ordered a dress. It didn't fit. Sent it beack for a refund. Refund was processed minus the £2.95 P&P I paid, so it was £2.95 short.
Is this correct? Can I ask for it back? I've had to pay P&P to send it back

OK... your short version is too short.
Did you make this purchase online?
How long after purchase did you return the thing?
The £2.95 you speak of, is that the cost of originally sending the goods out to you, or the cost of you returning the thing to them?
Distance Selling Regulations state that if you cancel the order within the specified criteria, then they must refund all monies paid.0 -
did you cancel under the dsr and give them written notice or just sent it back ?0
-
Evening sending it back without emailing them would qualify if within the 7 working days.
Who paid to return the goods? If you then no they cannot deduct this. If they paid, subject to their terms permitting it they can deduct their direct costs0 -
Sorry that was too short!
Purchased online, paid £2.95 delivery.
Received Item 3 days later, raised a ticket that day for return, 2 days later got it ok'd and sent it back. So a total of 6 days. I paid for the return, which is fine, no issues with that, but they have kept the original £2.95 P&P that I paid at point of sale.0 -
In which case under the DSRs they should be refunding you the £2.95 as well0

The time between requesting the cancellation and returning the goods is not relevant as far as DSRs are concerned. You only have to notify them of your intent to cancel within 7 days... "however expressed" so even returning without notifying them would be considered notifying them. Just thought i'd throw that in0 -

Would a phone call be enough?0 -
-
Although phone call would be enough (if they accept cancellation via this method), it's difficult to prove cancellation took place if they turned round and denied the phone call - although phone records would help in this situation, it is often easier to follow up a phone call with an email.0

So if I express cancellation by phone/verbally (cancellation acceptance by phone/verbally acceptable not in T&C's), the 'however expressed' is in fact wrong?0
