Hi, I am currently a SAHM and my parner earns £20,000 PA. I've been claiming tax credits since december 2005 but have just been told that perhaps I should not have been doing so as I have an estate held in trust for me til I am 25. I thought it was only income/earnings that needed to be taken into consideration? Please help as I'm panicing!

I think its any capital you may have too. I would ring the tax credits up and ask?Bad mother to 2!

Capital doesnt affect your tax credit claim although any income over £300 per year from the capital needs to be declared as earned income.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
