I have also fallen victim to this believable scam on the 13th Feb and reported it to all relevant 'authorities' when we realised it was such.

As people have already said on previous posts here, the literature sent by them claims that it is a subisidary of the London Gold Refinery Ltd, of Hatton Gardens, London.
That company had a change of director on the 26th Feb this year, to (text removed by Forum Team) A person of the same name is a director of Cascade Financial of (text removed by Forum Team).

I sent a second request for a siver pack last week through their website, using a friends address and, to my astonishment, a pack duly arrived with recorded delivery envelope and tracking numbers. They are still up and running.

In order to take a summons out, you have to know who to sue.

I have tried to get royal mail to tell me who the po box number is being paid for by. That way, if I can prove the link between bestpriceforsilver and the limited company, The london Gold Refinery Ltd, then I can take the limited company to court. You can't take a county court summons against a trading name, only a limited company, a partnership or an individual.

I first rang Royal Mail when we originally realised it was a scam and then again last week when the new package arrived. Royal Mail have twice refused to let me know who is paying for the po box number, even though on both occsasions I told them it was being used to steal from people.

I then wrote to Sheffield to request them to disclose under the freedom of information act and they have again refused.
I am now about to write and ask for a review of that decision.

It would help if everybody who has fallen victim to these people could ring royal mail and ask for the name of the owners of the po box number, if only on the basis that an increased level of 'public interest' will be created.
I have also rung the information commssioner and, it would seem, if you pay to keep your details private and confidential with royal mail, then you can do what you like and they don't have to reveal who you are.

If anybody has had any success with them, please let me know.

Can you subpoena royal mail to give you the information as a part of a small claims court claim?
  • I beleive Royal Mail will have to provide the info if it is related to a legal claim, yes.
However, you can't start a legal claim without knowing who to claim against. Catch 22.

Does the PO box address have a post code? That post code is usually the same as the address it is an alias for. Narrows it down if it is.

Oh, I thought any postcode associated with a PO Box was the postcode of the related RM delivery office.

Seems cut and dried to me, lgr own the domain

As for postcode, when I looked at getting a po box years ago the format on offer was with your own post code, so worth investigating.
  • I sent these folks about £100's worth in their slick envelope some weeks ago, and have not heard or been able to contact them ......... so are they still there?

I went on line and requested another envelope .. guess what .. it arrived next day!
  • Yesterday (27th March) I ordered another pack online from their website.
    Today it has arrived.
I am sending it back with a letter to Londond Gold refinery Ltd, demanding they return my silver. I am enclosing other metal and wood that was part of the cigarette case that the silver came from. All adds to the weight.
If nothing else, it will cost them money !!!
  • As I reported here, the week before Easter we sent a new recorded delivery to them with the remaining bits of my cigarette case, (wood and lead weight) and a letter saying if they didn't send the silver back, we would take them to court.

Last Thursday (4th April), I checked to see if they had received it, and it had been signed for on the 2nd. That day, we got a call from someone calling himslef 'Marcus', who muttered something about having had recruitment difficulties and offered us £120 for what we had sent to them.
Whilst it was well below the valuation on the website, we accepted the offer. Much to our surprise, the money has been paid into our bank.
It's still a scam, but at least it's no longer daylight robbery. Best of luck everybody.
