How are you going to give the parents security for the £25K and is the lender happy with that? Do you have at least three months mortgage payments and insurance premiums set aside in case of illness, injury or redundancy? What happens if you split up? Support for Mortgage Interest does not kick in for three months and will only cover the interest your mortgage NOT the capital payments and NOT the loan to the parents.

IMO rent but ask the landlord for a long tenancy, it doesn't have to be only six months, and make sure you have a professional landlord not an accidental one who really wanted to sell.

My two tuppence worth would be sorry cant really advise o. The finances but but as to area, we are currnently buying too (ftb) and have chosen a more modest home in a nicer area, we could have gone for a much bigger place but some of the areas were just too rough for us, and if that makes me snobby so be it but we want to feel comfortable with our surroundings and I'd feel that even more so if we had children like you.
