Things to do in London (and shows!)

Hi,
We're off to London on the weekend as a bit of a last minute thing (girlfriend managed to get onto a course she's wanted to do for ages!) and it'd be great to have some recommendations on...
1) Good shows to see, and places to get cheap last minute tickets if at all possible?
We've only seen The Lion King together before but we both loved it, so anything similar to that would be great. We also found this place that could be worth a visit to actually buy the tickets - http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/buy-tickets/tkts/
2) Any recommendations on things to do whilst she's on the course on the Sunday? I was going to get tickets for the football but it's sold out, then figured I'd watch a couple of games just in a pub but that's a bit of a waste of being in London, and the matches that are on aren't very appealing ;p
We normally hit up the parks (too cold this weekend), the museums, the galleries etc etc but that's stuff that my girlfriend is into more than I am, and would probably be a bit wasted on me if I went alone!
Thanks

I would recommend 'we will rock you'. I went a few weeks ago on a friday night, and it was a very good evening. It's straight next to the tube stop too.
On the Sunday, you could always go to the science museum It's free.0 -
There's some great views in London, primrose hill and ally pally spring to mind for north London.0

I'm am member of Experience Card which has some great things to do in London, all at a discount: www.experiencecard.co.uk
I don't know about shows I'm afraid, but on Sunday with the weather forecast to be better you could try London Street Games. They do fun mystery and puzzle games that last a few hours, that area great way of finding out about the city! www.londonstreetgames.com0 -
Les Mis don't do day seats, but a lot of shows do at the box office on the day. Wicked is really fab and they reserve the first two rows to sell on the day at the box office. I haven't seen The Book Of mormon ye, but it is getting rave reviews and they sell 21 top prized tickets via a lottery two and a half hours before each performance for £20 and they have a matinee and evening performances on Saturdays.0

Joining the thread for some inspiration! My fiance and I are going to see Book of Mormon on the 6th August with a reservation for Planet Hollywood afterwards. We're going to Rainforest Cafe on the 8th August for dinner. I think we want to do the Natural History Museum and some touristy things like Buckingham Palace etc. I need a good place to book a cheap hotel for 2 nights - 6th and 7th August, any ideas?DF by Xmas 2013 #135: £833/£1195 (69.7%)0

The Travelodge in Fulham is currently £32 per room, per night for 6/7th August. It is 5 minutes walk to Fulham Broadway tube station and good transport links as it would be about 10 minutes direct tube journey to South kensington for the Museums there (NH, Science and V&A). 15 minutes to St James Park for Buckingham Palace and about 20 minutes involving a change on the tube to Piccadilly circus for the theatre or Rainforest Cafe.
You could also look at Halls of residence as they do some really central b&b accomodation during the summer holidays.
