Brokers or Insurers

If you've had an unhappy claims experience, who would you moan to, the broker who took your money and put you with a particular insurer, or the insurer?
If you had problems with a physical item, you'd go to the shop not to the manufacturer.

The physical item is different because (a) many people do go to the manufacturer not the shop and (b) the law makes the retailer liable

With insurance both parties have a responsibility (when there is a broker involved).

The correct one to go to? Generally follow the complaints process as outlined in your policybook. If you have an old school proper brokerage then they can help, to some degree, to fight the case for you but many modern brokerages are in a totally different space and either are the right point to complain to or will buck pass to the insurer.

I'd go to the broker, write it as an official complaint, they have to respond to you in a certain period regarding their take, or action being taken. A broker can also make a similar complaint to the insurer.

A few more particulars re your disgruntlement would be handy, as if the claim has been sorted, but was just a bit tardy, and you have suffered no long term financial loss - you could be wasting a stamp.

Yep, that was the one ... but it was a home "emergency" issue. :o
