Does anyone have any quick, healthy and cheap breakfast ideas for busy mornings? Breakfast cereals rule at the moment but they can be so expensive and not very healthy or filling. Need to wean the kids off them if I can

Good old basic Porridge Oats are not only cheap but filling as they are a slow release foods (if cost is an issue make with water, might seem a bit lacking at first but you get used to it). Quick & Easy to cook (minutes), you can add fruits or nuts, honey etc.
Or make up 125g natural yogurt mixed with 30g oats and 50ml milk per person, leave in the fridge overnight and then eat is is or with fresh or dried fruit on top for a quick filling start to the day.
Add a banana to the menu for extra bulk and good for the inner workings!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Porridge? However, it isn't really quick and there may be problems getting kids to eat it.
Muesli? However, even the ingredients for DIY ones are expensive.
Eggs? Boiled with 'soldiers', or poached or scrambled on toast. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Beans on toast, cheese on toast, toasted crumpets with spread (even nice with a little grated cheese melted on top),Old Fashioned Eggy Breads, you can make one eggs go between 2 people this way. We sometimes have previously cooked potatoes fried with some chopped up cooking bacon which is nice too.0

Mini pancakes....i make a massive batch of them at weekends and freeze, then just microwave in the mornings and serve with fruit and yoghurt0

porridge! You can get a big bag from the supermarket for under a pound. And you can do it in the microwave too, lovely with a big dollop of jam!0

Eggs are so versatile, they don't take long to cook at all. My sons favourite is eggy bread
Cheese on toast
Fruit and yoghurt
Pancakes (make batter up the night before)
My two won't touch porridge or muesli, my 8 yr old loves shreddies and weetabix and my 11 yr old loves frosties, weetos, cookie crisp (basically all the sugary ones ). I buy shops own brand or cheap big boxes from the home and bargain. My 11 yr old normally has a bowl of cereal and 1 or 2 slices of toast which he makes himself and some fruit juice.
Don't think I could be bothered cooking something in the mornings though, we are always rushing, wouldn't want to use too many dishes ;)either ;-)0 -
Mine love proper porridge (5, 6 & 8) with dried fruit, a dollop of choc spread, banana, blueberries. They also have hot oat cereal, egg & toast & value wheatbix. Given the option mine would love sugar coated cereal, but as OP said so expensive!!0
