postgraduate league tables?

Ok. Seriously looking at postgrad courses now. Is there any sort of league table system to judge postgrad courses against each other or does it not really matter where you do a masters as long as the content of the course is perfect for you.

There are some leagues for individual subjects but generally no. Normally, though, there will be a couple of courses that are more widely known and respected than others - note that at PG level you can easily have good courses at otherwise crap universities and vice versa.

I suggest you ask an academic in the area you want to study.

You can perhaps check the Research Assessment Exercise results, per department.

Interpret them as you wish You can certainly argue that a good research rating does not extrapolate to good teaching/courses. OTOH, having a project supervised within a top research dept may have many benefits.
