Break in Driving

I have gone from driving a car to riding a motorbike for around 4 years, I want now to drive a car and motorbike, I have found it's rather difficult to get car insurance without losing all my no claims bonus, I did expect to lose some but not all. Is there any insurance companies out there anybody knows about that will cater for this sort of situation.

2 years no claims is usually the limit. But i assume your using your no claims in the bike and keeping it that way?

You not losing any no claims, You have it on your bike.

If its cheaper use the no claims on the car instead.

Either way your starting with zero no claims. Some companies may offer an introductory discount. But may not be transferable for a few years.

    .

Not many companies allow you to transfer NCD from car to bike, and even fewer the other way.

Best option may be a policy that allows you to have all on one policy.
You will have to google for these.

Personally I have both bike and car but on their own policies.
Thankfully, have bulit bike NCD nicely over the last few years. Although age plays a large part in both polices being pretty cheap :D

  • Thank you all.

I had built up 70% on the car, took the break for 4 years and just wanted to drive the car again, seems like I will have to start from the beginning again, on the plus side I'm building up the NCD on the bike.
