Repairing a NINTENDO DSI , is it worth it ?

Have just found our son's nintendo in his cupboard of junk and thought , as he doesnt seem to use it now , pass it on to his younger sister. However , found out that the charger socket on it is not working. It seems to have been pushed in too far by the charger ( hence him putting it in the drawer and forgetting ........)
Found the receipt for it and its 8 Months out of its 2 Year warranty .
Does any recommend trying to get it fixed (minimum charge for it ?) or if its cheaper to buy a second hand one.As he has literally dozens of games it seems a shame not to let his sister play the games that are suitable.

Thanks
The truth shall set you free.....................

If you know someone good with a soldering iron then it's quite easy to replace the charger socket, or check ebay for a DSi motherboard and just replace the whole lot.

A new charger socket off ebay will be a couple of quid.

My local TV repair man will do small PCB repairs for £5.

The whole DS range has kept it's price quite well on places like Ebay so a second hand one would still be quite a lot more than having it repaired IMO.
