Still no news from A&L about it's DirectSaver 5.80% AER savings account. By my reckoning they need to increase to a minimum of 6.05% AER if they don't want to lose customers.

I have had it on good authority that the HSBC Online Saver Offer will be increasing to 6% AER from the start of June.

Seems like we have a new benchmark of 6% to aim for.

Anyone else getting 6% on their Savings?

Northern Rock have increased their Silver Savers (for those over 50) online account by 0.19 % points to 6.00% wef 9/6/07

from the website linked in my first post:
A spokesman said: 'Our other savings rates are under review. Any new rates will start at the beginning of next month.'

Yay ... just received an email from ING Direct PR Dept explaining their "great rates":

Following the recent Bank of England Base Rate change, we will be increasing the interest rate on your ING Direct Savings Account to 5% AER from 1 June 2007.

For details of our latest savings rates see the table below.

    ING Direct Savings Account
…want a great rate in an easy access account with no catches
    5.0% AER

    ING Direct Web Saver
…are happy to manage your savings online only
    5.5% AER

    ING Direct Cash ISA
…want to earn a high rate without a penny going to the taxman
    6.0% AER

Whichever way of saving suits you best, we are committed to offering simple, straightforward banking with great rates.

This is why I still keep £1 in my ING Savings Account ... just so I can keep receiving these great emails!

Ah - perhaps you should try ICICI - they're still sending me mails even after I closed my account :D

My mum has this a/c. What a bunch of cheapskates! Why don't they all do the decent thing and pass the full BOE rate rise on?

You may post in jest, but that may just come to fruition, nice one.. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will very soon be closing my ING Accounts, they started off with good intentions and have since gone rapidly downhill for savers.

Me too ! Absolute rubbish ING seem to be alternating interest rate rises - sometimes web saver gets a rise and regular account doesn't and this time vice versa....:o :o
