BBC Site On iPad Using Chrome

I use Chrome internet browser on my iPad and typically go to the BBC site for news etc.
This morning the BBC site now defaults to the mobile version (m.bbc.co.uk) and no matter what I try I can't get back to the desktop version, which displays perfectly well on an iPad. Correct desktop version on Safari, but I prefer Chrome.
Is this the BBC trying to be helpful, when not needed?
Is anyone else having the same problem?

I just tried to open m.bbc.co.uk with Safari on an iPad 2, and it defaults to the www version ...
Apparently there's an option in Chrome settings - view desktop site ...0 -
As I mentioned Safari displays the desktop version suggesting a Chrome problem.
I've tried the 'view desktop site' option but I still get the mobile version - and - the view desktop site option is grayed.0
