A small property with a garage might help; that's where we store my husband's mobility equipment.

Are you sure that the differential between a 1 bed and a 2 bed flat would be £200pcm? I know South Herts quite well (I think you meantioned this area earlier) and Rightmove shows quite a lot of 2 bed flats within £100pcm of the LHA 1 bed rate.0 -

I am finding one bedroom places tend to be flats or cluster houses and neither seem to have garages. Also finding too many with grassed gardens which we couldn't upkeep. Part of my current life's extra expenses include paying someone to do the garden, decorating & odd jobs.0 -
Are you going to need adaptations to your house when/if you move?
It might be worth exploring other kinds of housing in your new area to see if there is anything other than privately rented accommodation.
You could google 'supported housing', for example, in the new area or perhaps ask a member of your family to visit the local housing office to see if there is any help they could give.0 -

Have you checked whether the local council or local charities offer this kind of free garden maintenance service in the areas where you are looking?
My council runs a scheme for basic garden maintenance for certain types of groups.0 -

Currently I have handrails outside up the two steps to the front doo, two handrails on the stairs, a turning rail where the stair turns a right angle, three grab rails in the bathroom & LL was more than happy to agree to them being fitted via OT. Not sure if all LL's are so kind?
Yes good point about contacting local housing office but finding the realisation off everything very stressful. Only four years ago I was working only part time, ill health but walking OK but earning enough to live OK and lived in a four bedroomed detached house. It is a case of re-aligning ones expectations

Every time it (sheltered housing) enters my mind it soon goes as my brain is not ready - although when I look in the mirror my body tells a different story :rotfl:
But seriously nothing ruled out.0
