Tuesday 12th March - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning all!

So I'm going to start my day with a rant/poll. I bought OH's mum some PJ's for mothers day - my 5 year old daughter chose them. I had a text from OH last night asking if I had a gift reciept for them, and not because they don't fit. This is the first gift that I've bought for her. Personally I'm hurt and upset by this, I would understand if it was something expensive that was worth changing - but it's pyjamas! No one is going to see them anyway!

Over the past year there have been so many things that she's given me that I don't really want but I've graciously recieved because I didn't want to appear rude. Am I over reacting? Bottom line is I don't keep reciepts unless it's something expensive because I don't expect people to want to change gifts I have chosen for them :(

Anyway, rant over now! Must get on with the daily stuff and try to chin up!
- Checked banking

Morning Josie, thanks for starting us off.

I know for a fact that my mum would wear them no matter what they looked like if my 5 year old had chosen them!! My MIL I'm not so sure about though I do know that she would just say thank you and be polite even if they were destined for the bin! Poor you.

My first proper day of my new job and I am working from home today. DD is at school and DS is at the childminders.

    My list today

    Check banks
    Daily clicks
    Heating off another jumper on
    Meals from stores
    Shopping - stick to list
Make way through to do list
Start sorting spare room so that I can work in there properly
    Wet and shape knitting
Take flask of tea upstairs with me so I am not boiling the kettle constantly
Try to stick to a proper working day
    School run

    That's me I think.

    Happy Tuesday everyone
    Goals for February
    Declutter 2/50

Well no work for me today as the Motorway is carnage due to the snow. We were snowed in from 5pm yesterday and received about 5 inches. So today is a day at home, which means heating is on but going to cut some more wood in a mo and see if we can get the heating off when fire going. Well today is going to get things done day!!!!!! :j

    Today I will:

    - B/L/D from stores
    - Take dogs for a play in snow to wear them out so I have peace today
    - Tidy Kitchen, clear out cupboards and fridge, write a list of what is in there for meal planning.
    - Give cooker a good clean
    - Cut up another pallet for fire wood and put fire on so can turn off heating
    - Clear all the ironing out
    - Sort all my emails and bits I should have done
    - Swagbucks, one poll etc
    - email my mystery shop and say that i cant do today as cant get there and neither will the staff :rotfl:
    - Spend at least a couple of hours crafting so that I will have enough stock for Easter Sunday fair

Sure I will find some more money saving items to do today.
    APR NSD - 0/10
Paid off in 2013 so far £125.00
    April Money made - £18.00

    Morning all,
A short list from me today, & another snowy one.
Firstly, @josiebabie.....Oh my goodness, I can identify with you on the 'jamas. We carefully choose gifts for an in-law & are lucky if we even get a thank-you. We usually end up having to ask 'Did you like the present?' to get any acknowledgement. Her Christmas gift was a lovely hat & scarf set (a bit different, I'd have loved it). We heard nothing, & when we asked, the answer was 'I don't wear hats'!!!! I tell myself she's got the problem with manners, not us, but it's sometimes hard to keep the infamous 'foxgloves gob' shut....
    Today's MS activity:
*Try & keep warm on as lilttle heating as possible.
*All meals from March mealplans (still using rubber pork for a good while yet, lol)
    *Did a survey.
*Managed an hour of laundry on Economy 7, as well as phone charge.
*Bread running out, have put breadmaker on as want an NSD.
*Managed to catch greedy little black cat just tucking into our cat's expensive medical biscuits so saved probably a whole bowl from being robbed!
All the best to everyone today,
    foxgloves x

Well rather than brave the cold and snow, we ended up staying in and ordering a curry which we had with a few beers that I have had left over since before Christmas.

Wasn't organised enough to get ready in time to leave for work at the same time as she did this morning, so ended up driving down to the station twice - once to drop her off, then because I didnt have the time to walk down there, I had to drive when I went to work too. Also meant I didnt do my salad for work today, so I'll be nipping out for a jacket potato in a bit, so not exactlly a money saving day.

On the plus side, I did get money from my stepmother as I said I'd prefer to have the money to pay off some debts rather than receive a gift and still be paying interest on my debts.

    Today I have/will
Checked online banking, all is as expected
Need to stop off at the supermarket for a few salad items, bread and dog food, but will only buy what is on the list
Read free paper on the train
Free coffee and water at work
    Charge phones at work
    Dinner from stores

    Have a great day everyone

I can understand why you are upset about the pyjamas. She is being rude to try and get money back for a gift. She should appreciate the thought, I think it's so sweet your daughter picked them. Tell your OH to get his mum's present next year so you don't have to worry about it.

So far today I've made DH a packed lunch for work to save money, entered some competitions and sent off for some freebies.

    Later I will:
Look in charity shops for warm clothes.
Go to the supermarket and check for whoopsies.
Check the gas and electricity meter readings.
Work on the website for the pet care business I'm setting up.
    Search for a second job.
    List some items on eBay.
    Enter more competitions!
