hey hey
do kids need vitamins?
im asking cos mine (5 and 2) have them daily, plus they also eat fresh fruit and veg daily, so is it possible to OD on good stuff as my kids often have loose bowel movements and sometimes sick.
so should i stop the vits?
its weird as i know kids who have take aways several times a week and have no probs and mine have junk food once a month (if that) and they get poorly easely.
any advice please?

Some vitamins are water soluble - B vits and vit C. If they get too much of those, they get flushed out in their wee. If the children are already getting plenty of those vitamins through their diet, you're literally flushing money down the loo.
I think most of the other vitamins are fat soluble. If you take too much of them, they just get stored up in your body. In very extreme cases they can do more harm than good. I can't think of a relevant example for children, but I know pregnant women are not supposed to take Vitamin A supplements as an excess can damage the unborn baby.
If the children are eating a healthy balanced diet with plenty of fresh foods, I personally wouldn't bother. I've never given mine vitamin supplements, and they are in good health, rarely sick, growing well and full of beans. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I give my little one (3) vitamins everyday. She is a very FUSSY eater and it's one way on knowing that she is getting some nutrients.
Which vitamins do you give them?

I used to give my two kids (7 & 9 yrs) multi vits every day. One day about 2 years ago i thought why am i doing this as they have 5 aday of fruit & veg, so i stopped.
I can honestly say they still get the same number of colds coughs and kiddie illnesses as they used to!0
