If you're partner is on income related ESA still, then all you need to do once you have quit is to fill in form ESA3 again stating your new circumstances as a couple. No sanctions will apply to ESA for this. So if it is affecting your OH's health as well as yours, then it would be better for you to stop working for the moment. Obviously if you do need to do something to keep up some me time, you can do voluntary work like driving a van for a charity to collect stuff if you drive for example. Or you could get a hobby, interest up and running. Everyones lives are different and you and your partner have to do what is right for both of you.0 -
Thank you all, I appreciate the help, its been a load off my mind, I just wish It didn't have to come to this, but I have to put my family first. Why don't you bare it whilst looking for another job?
I would, I would probably try to grin and bare the management problems also if it was just me, but the costs of the job aside (5 days a week bus fare on a P/T Wage), me not being at home is triggering my partner's anxiety.
My partner suffers from various mental health problems including social phobia, meaning they rarely go out of the house and when they do it its NEVER alone, they won't go anywhere without me.
But now when I am out and they're left alone at home, something that hasn't been done other than on the odd instance over the last 4 years, being alone in the house is causing them to have anxiety attacks.0 -

This is really specifically for JSA I'm not necessarily certain as the other poster seems to be that you can just up and quit unless you're taking on a caring role.
If you're working and then hand in your notice, you're not entitled to JSA for some time. On the other hand if you have been fired, you can start claiming immediately.
Whilst this is not at all relevant to the thread, it is extremely dangerous 'advice' dismissal can hold the same sanction as leaving voluntarily.0 -

But this is something he needs to work through. Giving up a job to stay with him will alleviate his anxiety in the short term, but is not going to help him or your family in the long run. He needs to get help with his anxiety and be prepared to face the hard road of recovery. Staying with him is like giving a dangerously overweight person food when they scream for it, they feel better soon afterwards, but continue to get fatter and be limited with their lives because of it.0 -
You can give up the job (for whatever reason) and the ESA will revert to zero income and continue to pay at the full amount. All your partner need do is report the end of work to ESA over the phone, I'm not sure you would need to fill in an ESA3, maybe only a P45 will be enough.
Do you, OP, have children, and get Child Benefit in your name?
Or does your partner have middle or high rate DLA care?
Do you get Carers Allowance?
I ask these questions because you may not be getting any NI credits to your name.... Your partners ESA will not pay your NI credits. but Child Benefit or Carers Allowance, or "JSA NI credits only" will pay your credits.0
