Hi ,
We finally sold our house on the 19th Feb and have so far had the survey on ours done, the buyer is chain free and the house were buying they are buying chain free too. So there's just 3 houses in the chain.
Weve had a mortgage agreed in principle and they've received the documents etc they asked for ( santander) and they said they would let us know within 3 days ( tomorrow) that its gone to some other department to organise our valuation and mortgage offer which takes 14 days.
We have sent returned the first lot of bumpf the solicitors have given us to sign and sort and I'm just wondering how log we can expect it to take now for us to get in there?
We are using the same solicitors as we have for
the last 2 houses and she is incredibly good and I'm told Santander are good but I'm not sure on the usual timings as it's been 6yrs since we last moved and I was post baby and with a foggy head.
The house we are buying they have gone and found their house only last week but have been told they need to complete in 28 days. Is this likely?
Thanks for any advice

Completion in 28 days and you haven't exchanged yet? Don't hold your breath.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I'm exchanging tomorrow and completion is in 2 weeks, don't worry. Plenty people exchange and complete on the same day!
Make sure you solicitor is aware that when you must complete by.0 -
If you want this to go through quickly - then you need to swop your potential mortgage holder. Don't use Santander - they were as slow as slow as slow could be when they were Abbey National and don't seem to have improved since.0

Seeing as the average sale takes three months, it's unlikely. We were told to exchange within 3 weeks - it took 5 months in the end!!
Can be done - I bought a flat in 5 weeks before.
Why do they have to complete within 4 weeks? Chances are, unless it's an auction property or something(!), they'll have a couple of weeks' leeway at least.

Hi ,
It's being sold by an equity release firm apparently so they want it tied up fast. Just had a conversation with the agent and shes said they will head for mid april and not to worry as once it's down the track they wont pull out for the sake of 2 weeks as they will have to start all over and list it again for sale.
Keep your fingers crossed for us. I just want it over and done with now.0
