EBAY Listing removed, what have I done wrong

I have been trading on ebay for a while and have just received an email from them removing a few of my auctions. Here is an extract from the email

We appreciate that you chose eBay to list the following listing(s):

220110573178 - SPEEDO SUPPORT SHORTS AND CROP TOP SET LYCRAUK 8 10 12
220110575022 - SPEEDO SUPPORT SHORTS AND CROP TOP SET LYCRAUK 8 10 12
220110573804 - SPEEDO SUPPORT SHORTS AND CROP TOP SET LYCRAUK 8 10 12

However, your listing was in breach of eBay's Circumvention of eBay Fees policy and has been removed from eBay. All fees related to this listing have been credited to your account. We also notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has
been canceled.

We would like to take this opportunity to let you know what part of your listing is not permitted.

Your listing(s) contains the following information:

AVAILABLE IN EITHER UK 8 (XSMALL), UK 10 (SMALL) UK12 (MEDIUM) YOU CHOOSE THE SIZE ONCE YOU WIN THE ITEM

Can anyone explain why this isn't allowed. The auction is for one set of exercise wear, I am mearly offering the customer to choose the size of the product they want dispatched (i though this might be useful for customers who wanted say a uk10 top but uk12 bottoms.

The email seems to suggest that i am trying to sell multiple products in one listing, but my wording is quite clear in that the winner only wins one set they just get to choose the size.

Can anyone help?

i think its because ebay would prefer you to list each size separately

'Choice listings can be problematic because of the potential for fee circumvention due to the item agreed upon being negotiated offline, transactions taking place outside of eBay and other issues.'

You need to list the sizes separately.

I would assume that someone (competitor?) has reported you, as Ebay doesn't seem to normally faff about like this without help.

firstly - have you contacted ebay to question why they were removed? if not, you should have done so rather than relying on advice here - i'm not saying that the advice here is wrong, but contacting ebay direct should always be your first course of action

Yep, I have had this before, you are not allowed to offer choice in your listings, even though all the huge power sellers do it and their listings never get removed! And yes, a competitor will have reported you.

    Learn something new everyday.

Quite flattered to be reported actually, didn't know my small scale ebaying could get someone's back up.

Seems weird though I'm the only person on ebay selling that specific product line, although i suppose comparable products are available.

Thanks for the advice guys, i'll stick seperate adds on for the sizes.

eBay's rules and regulations mine field claims another victim!

As a moneysaver you could simply list the auction as a generic "SPEEDO SUPPORT SHORTS AND CROP TOP SET LYCRA" and specifically NOT mention in the listing, any sizes or that buyer's choice was available. Instead - link to a webpage off eBay that does mention sizes (but no prices) and the availablility of mix and match choices. This is within the eBay guidelines.

Another work around is to list an email address and invite questions - useful in that you'll get useful sales leads and garner the occasional direct sale.
