Connecting Freeview to TV without a SCART interface

Options
Hi
Wonder if anyone can help me...
I was given a free flipdown TV a gift with a new kitchen, but it does not have a SCART interface. My ariel connection is not that great so I have used a freeview box in my living room TV (which is fine), and want to do the same with this new one in the kitchen, rather than having to update the ariel at this point

Can I connect using AV leads at one end/SCART at the other, or do I need adaptors of some kind?

Many thanks
Pasty

Yes AV leads (Yellow, White, Red) should be ok for the connection.

You can most probably find something like this...

    scartwandler.JPG

It contains an S-Video, a regular video and the left right audio connections.

I would suggest Maplins as a first place to try.

How would you connect it if the tv only had a normal aerial?

    Many Thanks:T

so, i'm getting this right, the ariel connection goes to the STB, the Scart end to the STB with the AV leads to the TV, is that right? Sorry for being a bit dense here
    Cheers

:o I think I'm getting all confused - sorry... is this thing an adaptor? As you can tell, I'm not really up on the connections, but on my TV in the livingroom, the ariel connection is going to the Freeview box, and then the scart leads connecting the TV and Box, so would I need 4 cables (not really sure about the regular video and S video) at one end and a scart at the other?

Many thanks for replying to me

Doesn't it connect through the Freeview box...? I think I'm running myself round in circles here :o

As I see things, your new kitchen TV needs first of all an aerial feed, secondly it needs a means of connecting to a Freeview Receiver.

Depending on your location, you could try a portable indoor aerial, or split your living room aerial with a two way booster, taking a feed through to your kitchen.

As for connecting the Freeview Receiver to your Kitchen TV, if it has AV Inputs, you could use them, that is assuming your Freeview Receiver also has this type of connection, otherwise you will need an adapter as displayed.

Hope this helps and that I have understood your requirements correctly.

    Thanks for your reply-
Ok, I think I'm getting this, but here goes

There is a separate ariel feed in the kitchen, so I don't need a splitter

The connection of the freeview box to the TV is what I am confused about. There are no AV connectors on the Freeview box, and no Scart interface on the TV so that's great about the adaptor thing in the above posts.. However, I have seen the leads that have a SCART connection on one side and AV on the other, and this would be better (tidier) if it worked. And I think it will then, is this right ?

Thanks again, especially as I seem to be a bit slow here..

What connections does the TV have instead of us trying to guess?
