Something very peculiar has happened since I made this thread. 2 weeks ago my parents bought me a car and had me insured in it. It was a surprise for my birthday and originally I was against it because since making this thread I had no interest in purchasing a car or owning one. well now things are very different and I have a car now so its a big shock and I am a little shaken because this has disrupted my plans.

Whats interesting to know now though is that to keep my no claims bonus I will have to insure a car every year. I will have to buy my own car and pay for my own insurance next year.

Can someone give me some advice because my mind is a mess atm thank you.

I think most insurance companies let you keep your NCB for around 2 years without driving, so you don't have to insure and drive constantly.
    Total Mortgage OP £61,000
    Outstanding Mortgage £27,971
    Emergency Fund £62,100

If your going to buy a car and not pay as much for insurance you need to go for a complete standard model no modifications, the smaller engine the better and a slow 0-60 speed!
After a few years once you have picked up your no claims bonus on insurance then look to buy a better car or you will just get screwed.
I had a BMW 325 coupe, but not for 4/5 years after passing so insurance was not to bad.
It also depends where you live as to insurance costs as they can vary ALLOT.

Depending on the company some insurance companies will allow you to keep No Claims Discount/Bonus for 2/3 years.

What car did your parents buy you?

I think some let you keep it for a few years however most only allow 12 months, regardless, I'd rather not limit myself to the amount of insurance companies I am able to insure with seeing as though their prices are all very very high.

A far more sensible choice for a first timer a) from the point of view of accidents (you won't think of this at your age but the statistics tell otherwise) and b) affordable insurance to get some years of no claims under your belt.

Today I had a woman hit her car into the rear of my car. the damage is minimal but basically I turned left at a green traffic light then I had to stop at another set of traffic lights which were 10m ahead of the previous one. I stopped and the women hit me in the rear of my car.

as I said there was no damage, just a slight dent on my license plate plastic bit but its nothing. I don't think it was my fault she should've driven slower and been more alert to stop before crashing into me. I honestly don't know what I could've done to prevent this crash from happening or if it was my fault. I am going to be honest, Im quite scared to drive again.

We didn't exchange any information or contact details because the damage was minimal but Im kind of shaken and stressed. My neck hurts from the whiplash but its not as bad as it sounds I can move it without pain but it does feel numb when it is still. :(:(:(:(

See a doctor as soon as you can. It may be nothing, but you shouldn't ignore a neck injury.
