check it out with building control because loft conversions are a nightmare viz building regs,if its not done right you can be made to reinstate back to original
and building regs are changing on a regular basis, even the electrical installation
on said conversion would have to meet Part P requirements, alot of these changes are in effect stealth taxes dressed up under the guise of health, safety
and the like, ask any electrician worth his salt and he will tell you that Part P was enforced without dialogue or consultation and its not particularly made things safer but it sure has filled the local authorities coffers.

only if the council spot this within one year of the incorrect work being done.

and building regs are changing on a regular basis,

So anything done previously may not now meet current regulations even if it would have met the regulations in force at the time.

even the electrical installation on said conversion would have to meet Part P requirements,

    though these are very recent

alot of these changes are in effect stealth taxes dressed up under the guise of health, safety and the like, ask any electrician worth his salt and he will tell you that Part P was enforced without dialogue or consultation and its not particularly made things safer but it sure has filled the local authorities coffers.

I would check with a surveyor rather than the council.
