Hheeellllpppp!!!!credit report check

A loan was taken in my name and my bank advised me to obtain a credit report. I've tried to obtain a credit report from the main credit checking agencies
experian, equifax, call credit and checkfile

after paying to view this report and my card being charged for some of them, i still could view my full report, as i have to wait 3-5 days for a login-pin to be sent to my home addresse.

this has just defeated the whole objective of getting stant access to you information, even after vefiying me online with my debit card and some other questions.

is there any other sites will not lead me into registering to view this informaton with instant access.

It's for security. They can't just give out your credit report to anyone who happens to know a few details about you. You've just experienced what that can lead to.

You can only view it instantly online if they can link the card used for payment to the current address in your credit report. Otherwise, it's sent to the current address in your credit report for security.

Experian will only send the £2 statutory report to your home address

I really wish people (including MSE I'm afraid) would stop saying that you can get an 'instant' credit report online from Equifax, whether for £2 or whatever. When I tried today I ended up ringing an 0844 number to confirm the details I had given and answer more security questions - and was then told I needed to submit some further information (utility bill/driving licence etc) by post.

I could barely understand the Equifax service assistant but I did ask why this was necessary when the report was supposed to be available immediately! The reply I got was almost equally incomprehensible so I just said forget it, don't charge me anything and that I was extremely annoyed. All that prompted was: "Ok madam, thank you for your call today", or something to that effect by the sound of it.

At this point I was annoyed with everybody, including whoever on this site is suggesting that you can get an instant report.

Yes, I did then go to Noddle (aka Callcredit) and got a basic report immediately - how far back do they check though?

The whole point of this exercise was to see if I could find out when I last had a bank loan as I know that I paid payment protection insurance on each occasion, although the loans were only for relatively low amounts. Would any credit report go back far enough to give a useful answer?

You can get an instant report from Equifax for £2, and I have done.

All three check back to show open accounts, and anything closed (or any adverse) within the last six years. Anything prior to that doesn't matter for credit purposes, which is what they provide the service for.

I'd love to know how :undecided My debit card was refused, this in spite of the fact that I used it last night.... but they accepted details from a credit card, which was when another screen opened asking me to ring the 0844 number. This was subsequently confirmed by email - the rest is the history as given in my post. I have used my debit card in the last few minutes to buy something (as I was going to anyway) just to verify that there is not a problem with it, and there isn't.

Anyway, so just to confirm - would the Noddle report show up any loans I've had in the last six years? I printed it and the relevant bit reads "You have no personal loans or mortgages on your account". Do I assume that means I've had none within the last six years?

Sorry to be pedantic, and glad to hear you got your report immediately - at least somebody got what they needed.

Equifax is usually instant. Experian send you a code through the post so you can access your online report. Noddle is also usually instant.

If they can't validate you properly, it'll take a bit longer while they check who you are.

Agreed, Noddle was instant thank goodness - I had steam coming out of my ears :D But the process with Equifax seemed to go without a hitch, so I don't quite understand the need for me to call them.

Thanks for the input though, I don't want to put people off if it is possible to get an instant report from Equifax. And I'm not quite sure of the credibility of Noddle, it seems quite new on the scene.

It seems like an address mismatch/ER issue to me.

Are you on the electoral roll?

Do you live in a flat/new build, where the address could be shown in several different ways? ie the Council have reported one format and your banks etc are using another.

Noddle is OK. It is the lesser used CRA, however they seem to have most of my accounts on there. There are a few that only appear on Experian, but I'm not bothered about those as they are green and settled.

It's always best to get reports from all 3 to make sure you've seen everything being reported about you.

We are on the electoral roll and have been continuously since 2003 (a bit hit and miss prior to that).

And the house is an old one, the only issue with the address being that the bank etc includes the district as well as the town - it surely couldn't be a simple issue like that that's caused a problem. I mean I'm pedantic enough and I know computerised systems are very literal but....
