What paint to use on a radiator?

Can anyone advise me what paint to use on a radiator.

I've read that oil based paints turn yellow quickly so I bought a water based eggshell then noticed on the can it says not for use on radiators.

I know you can buy specific radiator paint but I wanted to buy something a bit more multi purpose

thanks

Ruth

you can use an ordinary emulsion (unless the instructions say otherwise) and then cover it with Radiator Clearcoat

Radiator paint is overhyped and expensive and difficult to apply if you are not used to it.

Use eggshell in a colour that matches the walls.

i've used dulux soft sheen on numerous rads with no problems , if they have been glossed give them a good sand down and undercoat first , if you are using soft sheen on the walls you canlose the rads by painting them the same colour

I have never used anything other than ordinary gloss. Can't say that I have ever had a problem with it.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

For a lot of my Commercial customers that want white I use an an Aerosol called Rust - Oleum Radiator Enamel, Satin or Gloss. Great as its Touch dry in 20 mins and you can get a second coat on quite quickly. Just make sure the area is well ventilated and you prepare the surface correctly.

The aerosol in my opinion enables me to get the best finish, as near to original as possible.

For private customers I've used Ronseal One Coat Radiator Paint but wouldn't go out of my way to recommend as it takes at least two coats and you have to be quick. At least it Stays white but it does take practice to apply it quickly and get a good finish.

On my own Rads I've used Dulux Eggshell and Dulux Gloss, the Eggshell gave the best results out of the two.

I can't see the point in spending ages choosing a nice colour for your walls and woodwork, then painting your radiator glaring white because that's what 'radiator paint' comes in.

I paint my radiators with the same paint I've used for the walls (or, sometimes, the woodwork). Gloss or emulsion, it doesn't matter. The only important rule is to let them cool down before painting them and let the paint dry before you turn it on again.
