Missed appointmens E.ON

We were due an yearly service appointment on friday. We recieved the usual text early in the morning stating that they would be at our house between 12:00 and 16:00 hours.
The wife had booked the afternoon off work to let them in and to get on with the work.

Sometime atround 15:30 the wife got a phone call from eon CS explaining that the engineer was unable to call as he was running behind. So that was an afternoons pay lost.

The appointment was reschedulded for today. Again I got the text saying between 10:00 and 14:00. This time I had to take time off.

14:00 passed no word at all so I rang the eon customer service and although he was apologetic he couldnt tell me why I hadnt been visited or at the very least rung up to explain the delay.

Its now 2:30 and still no phone call back.

Do I or my wife have any way we can get compensation as between us both we have lost a full days pay which we can not really aford!

I'm not sure about the terms of a your service agreement, but missed appointments for gas & electricity supply (e.g. to read or change a meter) would entitle you to some compensation, typically about £20

Ask Eon next time you speak with them, or check the terms of your service agreement. :)

Why have you taken a full day off without pay, when you only needed to be home for a 4 hour period? I'm afraid no one will compensate you for your own decision to take time off in excess of the period necessary.

Enjoy the rest of the day off ... ;)

Edit: It appears you could have requested any one of the following appointment slots to best suit your own sitaution

    0800 – 1200 (morning)
    1000 – 1400 (school run)
    1200 – 1600 (afternoon)
    1600 – 2000 (home time)

    Hi Sedated

I'm sorry our engineer has missed pre-arranged appointments.

We've a complaints process available to deal with this type of service issue.

A dedicated specialist will investigate the complaint. They'll send you a written response detailing the reasons for the no show and any actions we feel are necessary as a result.

Full details are on our website. Alternatively, if you email the details to the address in my Profile, I'll kick start the process for you.

    Sorry again for the inconvenience.
