Court Action against HSBC

Last week I used HMCS website to start court action against HSBC.
This morning I got a letter from the court; "Notice that Acknowledgement of Service has been filed" where the bank has 28 days to file a defence. What worries me is that they are going to defend all of the claim and have given up a name of solicitor in Birmingham.
What is going to happen? Is this normal procedure and has anyone gone through this?
Should I be worried if they have "hired" solicitor to deal with this?

Thank you.

If you read the forum you will see that this is now standard.

It is highly unlikely you will have to attend court. The current bank ethos is to use brinkmanship to see who falls by the wayside.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.
