City Link driver probably stole my flowers

So basic point of OP's post is Waitrose good, Citylink bad. Hold the front page for this breaking news!!!
The OP says he's had issues with Citylink before. We can deduce that the OP does not think much of Citylink. What should be the effect of that? Are we to tell our tales of Citylink in solidarity with the OP? Or advise the OP that as his local drivers appear below standard that he check with future suppliers who their couriers are? There you go, some practical advice for you OP.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
To go back to the original post, here's an alternative scenario to theft ... CL driver was behind schedule so didn't deliver the goods but self-signed that they were (perhaps intending to deliver on the Sunday or Monday).
But why he (or she) would go to the bother of driving down the street is puzzling - unless the vehicles are tracked so he (or she) NEEDED to go there to pretend the delivery was made.0 -

@notanewuser
The following is factual and true: I've had issues with City Link deliveries before, from my perspective Waitrose were good in this situation and yes, the City Link driver was bad. These are still factual accounts and I'm really not sure why you have such an issue with my posts and why you're fostering such a negative position against me here? It's rather rude and not productive. I really don't know what you've found so objectionable about my account of the situation?
For information; the 2 previous failed deliveries were in London and the one on the weekend was in Hampshire. I can explain the previous issues if you wish.0 -

Thanks for the comment. I think this is an outside chance, although I couldn't say it is impossible. The only problem is nothing was attempted on Sunday, although I'm not sure about today as I'm at work currently. If they say it was delivered and, in fact, they knowingly drove away with the item still in their possession is that then theft regardless of their future intention? I'm not sure what the legal position would be on that.0 -

I really do think you have missed the whole point of the Praise, Vent and Warnings board.
The clue is in the title.
I echo Azari:Do you understand what the words 'warning' and 'vent' mean?I'm really not sure why you have such an issue with my posts and why you're fostering such a negative position against me here? Danno81 - ignore this poster. Her posts reflect badly on her, not you.
We get the point of your post.0 -

So, what did you do with the flowers?0 -
and, given that the OP stated, in the title to his thread,
City Link Driver PROBABLY stole my flowers
it looks like a very rational thread.
FWIW I would guess that the City Link Vans probably ARE tracked; possibly to deter thieves.
Ironically that doesn't stop a driver 'claiming' to have delivered items, and then not doing so, does it?
And, as you say OP, thefts like this not victimless crimes because ultimately costs go up for the rest of us.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I totally understand why the OP is upset about the flowers not being delivered. I had a similar incident on Saturday, although I was initially blaming the incompetence of the driver, I find that M&S were 100% to blame. I've just posted my experience on another forum, as follows:
I stopped using Interflora because they couldn't seem to manage to send the box of chocs I ordered with the flowers, so I had to spend a week chasing them up. This year, I gave M&S a go, and whilst the flowers and the trio pack of hand creams my mother in law received were beautiful, the chocolates were nowhere to be seen!
Couldn't get any answers from them on Sunday, so I spent the whole of yesterday morning getting to the bottom of it - it goes as follows:
1. Firstly, they tell me the delivery man did deliver 3 items to my mother in law, and she signed for them.
2. After checking with my MIL, she told me that the 2 items she received were left in her front porch without her having to sign for anything.
3. M&S then say that the third item was left "securely at the property" - this is impossible as the side gates on my MIL's house are always locked, and there's no access to the back. Hmmphh!
4. M&S finally decide to reimburse me for the chocs, and put through another order for a replacement box - I was happy to do this. I then went through the entire process of placing the new order for the chocolates over the phone with them, complete with new order number and everything - but it was worth it to get the chocs for my MIL.
5. I still felt miffed about the whole debacle, so I asked that my £4.95 delivery fee be reimbursed as a "gesture of goodwill".
6. After holding for almost half an hour on the phone, they came back with an offer of reimbursing one third of the delivery fee to which I near enough told them to "stuff it".
7. I was getting more and more irate at this point, so I asked to speak to someone with some proper decision making authority......I was told he would call me back.
8. I was called back 45 minutes later by a so called manager (who sounded about 12) and who began the conversation by telling me that he had some bad news for me.....Apparently my mother in law never received her chocolates because they were never actually sent! Furthermore, they could not send another box because I purchased them as an "add on" to the bunch of flowers, and as such they cannot be re-ordered. The explanation I was given was that they had run out of their allocated amount of chocolates to send with flowers. Really? Talk about ridiculous! The chocolates in question are a box of M&S Swiss chocolates, which are a continuous and plentiful line in all their stores!! I was aghast that someone couldn't simply obtain a box of these and send them out....But no, nobody at M&S seemed to want to put things right.
9. After a little more arguing, I managed to grind him down about the delivery charges, and received a confirmatory email that I would be reimbursed the cost of the chocolates, plus the full delivery charge; to my horror, I also have to wait 3-5 days before being reimbursed!! Oh, and add further insult to injury, because I was at work at the time I phoned them on my mobile, which cost me almost another £5, because 0845 numbers aren't included in my contract...
All in all, my annoyance had hit an almost volcanic level when they finally admitted the chocs had not been sent, and I think I was so incandescent with rage I could be seen from the furthest point of the Northern hemisphere! Luckily, I can maintain control and didn't explode; although maintaining a calm exterior throughout was a difficult challenge.
I did have to laugh at the end of the conversation though: the 'manager' asked if there was anything else he could "do for me today"....I had to bite my tongue quite hard to stop myself from saying anything......!!
All joking aside, I'm quite shocked that M&S weren't more willing to try and put things at least a little bit right; and they don't seem to acknowledge the disappointment and embarrassment they cause when they !!!!-up.0
